Tigran Abrahamyan Notes Receiving Odd Responses from the Ministry of Defense
I had written to the Minister of Defense to understand whether the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff had analyzed and compiled events related to the 44-day war, the course of the war, and the reasons for our defeat. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly's "Honorary Have" faction and an expert on security issues, on his Facebook page.
He specifically noted, "The response received from the Ministry of Defense mentions that comprehensive analysis on the war is ongoing at the General Staff. Although the Ministry's letter states that the analysis work has not yet been completed, surprisingly, the next sentence states that based on that same unfinished analysis, structural and substantive deep reforms are being implemented in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
However, perhaps the strangest part of this letter is the statement that the reforms of the Armed Forces are not subject to publication. I can understand the non-public nature of structural changes in the General Staff or the Ministry of Defense, but the complete secrecy surrounding the Armed Forces reforms is incomprehensible. It is true that in contrast to the Ministry of Defense’s incoherent behavior, which is uncharacteristic of a state, the responses to letters are given, yet content-wise, it raises more questions than answering the questions posed to it.
The pace at which changes are being implemented in the Armed Forces cannot be considered satisfactory in any form; I’m not even talking about its substance."
