Kia Hits 11-Year-Old Boy Crossing at a Designated Area
Today, on October 19, a traffic accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 13:40, Yerevan resident Ashot Hovhannisyan hit 11-year-old G.A. with his Kia vehicle while the boy was crossing at a designated area on Sherami street, at the intersection known for its public pool.
According to shamshyan.com from the scene, the driver did not flee and assisted the staff of the ‘Physical Therapy, Medical Massage’ facility located at 92/9 Sherami street, as well as the emergency service from the Yerevan number 7 firefighting and rescue department and the Yerevan ambulance doctors in transporting the child to the ‘Holy Mother of God’ medical center.
Prior to transporting him to the hospital, the doctors provided first aid on-site. Residents gathered at the scene urged the Yerevan municipality and the traffic police to install a speed camera in that area, as it had previously been in place which led to a decrease in traffic accidents. However, after the speed camera was removed, the number of traffic accidents and pedestrian casualties has increased.
