Residents of Proshyan Village Carry Their Children to Kindergarten and School with Fear for Over a Month

For several days now, Shamshyan.com has been receiving numerous calls from residents of Proshyan Village in the Kotayk region, who are justifiably expressing their frustration over the dire situation they have found themselves in since September 1. Today, on October 18, in an interview with photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, residents stated: "Some organization won a competition (tender), resulting in the installation of new sewer pipes on Yerevan Street in the village. These works began on September 1. The entire village was excited that finally, we would have proper sewage systems. The tractor driver and workers diligently committed to their tasks and performed their work responsibly. However, it has been over a month, and the company that won the tender has not paid these workers, leaving them in a position of being 'abandoned'. Now, Yerevan Street in the village has become a real disaster. Massive pits pose a serious threat, and during strong winds, dust fills the homes of residents.

We have contacted the Kotayk Regional Administration several times, but we have been met with disdain. No official from the administration has bothered to visit and see the chaotic state of affairs. More than 200 households in the area accompany their children to kindergarten and school every morning using this road. There have even been cases where someone has fallen ill, and the ambulance, responding to calls, took 30-40 minutes to reach the scene due to the neglected dug-up areas.

They say the name of the tender winner is Arthur, but we do not even know what organization it is or who they are. Previously, when such works were carried out, the organization would place signs indicating the start and completion dates of the construction. Warning signs were also installed during construction, and special lighting devices were used at night. But here, the situation is completely chaotic.

We want to believe that the Kotayk Regional Administration will finally take action and resolve the issue promptly; otherwise, as soon as the rain and snow begin, the situation will worsen even more."
