Residents of Goris Summoned for Questioning One by One

As part of the criminal case against Gagik Arushanian, dozens of supporters of the "Arush Arushanian" alliance have been summoned to the Goris Investigative Committee. Armen Melkonyan, the lawyer for the Arushanian family, informed Sputnik Armenia about this.

"At the moment, 11 people have already been questioned. They are all being asked the same question: did Gagik Arushanian distribute electoral bribes or not? Everyone is surprised about what this is about," he said.

The lawyer noted that in addition to these 11 individuals, another 50-60 residents of Goris are also expected to be questioned. He added that Gagik Arushanian, the father of the current mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanian, has not yet been questioned.

Melkonyan describes the criminal case against Gagik Arushanian as baseless, attributing it to the results of the local self-government elections that took place yesterday. "Everything has happened before the eyes of society and the media. They are simply trying to undermine this magnificent, resounding victory in some way, attempting to take certain steps. I have nothing else to say," the lawyer stated.

It has been noted that a criminal case has been initiated against Gagik Arushanian, alleging that he distributed electoral bribes on October 16, 2021. Based on this, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has granted permission for a search.

The court has allowed the search to be conducted from October 17 to 19, at one time and one location. On the day of the local self-government elections, a large group of red berets closed off the entrance to the alliance's office and carried out the search. The search lasted for 3.5 hours and ended after the polling stations were closed.
