NATO Has Yet to Receive Official Notification from Russia Regarding Suspension of Missions
NATO has acknowledged the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding the mutual closure of diplomatic missions, but has not yet received any official notifications from Russia. This was reported by TASS, citing the alliance's press service.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia has decided to suspend the activities of its permanent mission to NATO effective November 1, in response to the decision to revoke the accreditations of eight mission staff members. Lavrov also mentioned that the work of the NATO Information Bureau at the Belgian Embassy and the military liaison mission in Moscow would also come to a halt.
In a conversation with the agency, the Russian Embassy in Belgium, which, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, will cease to ensure all functions of communication with NATO starting November 1, refrained from commenting.
