Iran's Foreign Ministry Calls on Azerbaijan to Exercise Caution

The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, addressed the recent statements made by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev during a press conference today. Aliyev had accused Iran of transporting drugs to Europe through Armenian territory while speaking at a meeting of CIS leaders.

According to the IRNA news agency, Khatibzadeh urged the Azerbaijani leadership to "allow the diplomatic dialogue between officials of the two countries to continue and refrain from negative statements."

The official representative of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have been progressing naturally but added that "the Azerbaijani leadership must be cautious and not fall into the trap of third countries."

It is worth noting that Khatibzadeh had made a statement on this matter a few days earlier, indicating that Aliyev's comments were unfounded.
