Iran Signs Weapons Procurement Agreements with Russia

Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri has stated that he will discuss the issue of purchasing weapons from Russia during his upcoming visit to Moscow, following the lift of the United Nations' decade-long arms embargo last year, according to Tasnim news agency.

Upon arriving in Moscow on Sunday, Baqeri told reporters that the new Iranian administration places special emphasis on the East.

The senior Iranian commander emphasized that the armed forces of Iran and Russia will strengthen military cooperation. Baqeri mentioned that Iran has signed agreements with Russia regarding arms procurement, which will be discussed during the current visit. “We are collaborating with the Russian armed forces, and in recent years, bilateral cooperation has improved,” Baqeri said.
