First Lawsuit for Confiscation of Illegal Property Filed: 485,138,000 AMD

The first lawsuit for the confiscation of property of illegal origin has been submitted to the first-instance court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, and it has been accepted for proceedings. This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia.

The competent authority has requested the court to confiscate property or money from Serob Razmik Harutyunyan and Anush Ararati Antonyan in favor of the Republic of Armenia. Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Prosecutor General, noted on his Facebook page that this Harutyunyan is a former official of the National Security Service.

According to Sputnik Armenia, the two are married. Serob Harutyunyan has previously served as the Chief of Police of Kotayk Province and the head of the “Nubarashen” Penitentiary.

According to the prosecutor's request, the confiscation of an apartment located on Northern Avenue in Yerevan is sought from Harutyunyan and Antonyan, or, if that is not possible, the confiscation of the average market value of the property, which is 187 million 250 thousand AMD. Also, the parking lot located on Northern Avenue is subject to the same conditions, with an average market value of 6 million AMD, as well as 97.6% of the same parking lot, with an average market value of 5 million 880 thousand 400 AMD.

From Serob Harutyunyan, the confiscation of funds received from the leasing of real estate on Chekhov Street in Yerevan amounting to 8 million AMD is planned. The difference in the value for the sale of a “BMW X6 3.5 I” vehicle and the acquisition of a “PORSCHE PANAMERA S 4.8” vehicle is 1 million AMD. Furthermore, the value for the sale of the illegal share of the “BMW X6 XDRIVE 3.5 I” vehicle is 990 thousand AMD, as well as 50% of the sale value of the shares of “Orange Gas” LLC, which equals 215 million 707 thousand 500 AMD, and 14 million 361 thousand 672 AMD that are not substantiated by lawful income.

From Harutyunyan Serob, 40% of the property located on Chekhov Street in Yerevan is expected to be confiscated, or in case of impossibility, the average market value of the property, which is 34 million 700 thousand AMD. The “PORSCHE PANAMERA S 4.8” vehicle or its average market value of 11 million 250 thousand AMD is also subjected to confiscation as property belonging to Serob Razmik Harutyunyan.

In the near future, further lawsuits for the confiscation of illegal property will be submitted by the department for other cases for which preliminary measures for securing claims have already been applied.

It is noted that Serob Harutyunyan became known when a criminal case was initiated in the Special Investigative Service regarding the dissemination of information about the personal life of Suren Papikyan, the head of the Political Council of the “Civil Contract” party. Accusations were filed against Harutyunyan for abuse of official position, as he was suspected of publicizing that information. The criminal case was later terminated.
