The NA Speaker and His Brother Have No Connection to the Company’s Won Tender: Euroasfalt's Statement
The chairman of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan's brother, Karlen Simonyan, who leads the Euroasfalt company, has issued a statement addressing circulating media reports.
“Euroasfalt LLC officially declares that the information published in the media regarding the connection of the NA Speaker or his brother with the company’s won tender and that this tender win may contain possible corruption risks has no relation to reality. Since its establishment, the company has participated in several dozen tenders and has often been unable to offer a competitive price. Recently, the company won two tenders, for which the proposed price does not imply profit from the outset. In this way, the company is trying to secure its position among the already existing major players in the market. It should also be noted that neither K. Simonyan nor A. Simonyan have ever held and do not hold any stake in the company. K. Simonyan serves as the director of the organization, and the positive or negative outcomes of the mentioned tenders cannot and do not affect the amount of Karlen Simonyan's salary.
The owners of the company are Svetlana Poghosyan with 50% and Greta Tadevosyan with 50%. As for Euroasfalt 1 LLC, this company was established for organizing the sale and purchase of land plots. Sirush Davtyan founded the company by investing the land plot owned by their family into the charter capital, after which all shares of Euroasfalt 1 LLC were acquired by Greta Tadevosyan. Currently, an asphalt production plant has been built on the said land plot, which has been leased to Euroasfalt LLC. After the sale of the shares, Sirush Davtyan has had no connection with the further activities of these two companies. Considering the above, we call for refraining from unfounded speculations and infringements on the company's reputation. In case of suspicions of legal violations, we urge to contact law enforcement agencies. The company is ready to provide any information,” the statement said.
