Shareholder of Company Led by Alen Simonian's Brother is a 65-Year-Old Woman Who Claims No Connection
The only shareholder of "Euroasphalt 1" company, led by Alen Simonian's brother, Karlen Simonian, is 65-year-old Sirush Davtyan residing in the Ushi community of Aragatsotni province.
During a visit by Azatutyun, it was found that she lives alone, is a housekeeper, and claims to have no connection with the company managed by Karlen Simonian, despite being listed as the owner in the documents.
Notably, the companies "Euroasphalt" and "Euroasphalt 1," which are managed by Karlen Simonian, were established after the 2018 revolution. The first company was created on March 18, 2018, with a capital of 50,000 drams, while the second company was founded in February 2021 with a capital of 140 million drams.
The newly established "Euroasphalt" company has received two large asphalt-laying orders from the state. The first order was awarded by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure on June 17 of this year, amounting to 368 million drams, and the second order was for 287 million drams for asphalt laying on inter-community roads of Aparan.
Alen Simonian sees only one issue in the entire matter: the media publications discussing this case. Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan also did not identify any corruption risks here. It is noted that the company led by Alen Simonian's brother offered the lowest price.
"Euroasphalt" bid 50,000 drams less than competing companies in the competition worth up to 400 million drams, which allowed it to win the contract. However, investigative journalist Vahe Sarukhanyan sees a significant potential for corruption risk in this situation.
It is worth mentioning that Azatutyun radio station was unable to contact Karlen Simonian for clarifications regarding these issues.
