Zakhrova Comments on the Killing of a Civilian in Martakert

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakhrova, addressed the incident of the killing of a civilian by an Azerbaijani sniper in the village of Mataghis, Martakert region, during a weekly briefing.

"The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is conducting a relevant investigation with the involvement of representatives from both sides. To coordinate efforts aimed at preventing incidents in their areas of responsibility, Russian peacekeepers are continuously working with the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan. This tragic incident confirms the indisputable implementation of all provisions of the statements made by the leaders of the three countries. We call on both sides to promptly resolve the existing contentious humanitarian issues, exchange prisoners in the 'all for all' format, and provide minefield maps," Zakhrova stated.

It is noteworthy that on October 9, during agricultural work accompanied by a Russian peacekeeper near Martakert city in Artsakh, Aram Tephnants, a resident of Martakert, was killed by gunfire from the Azerbaijani armed forces' sniper.
