Cars Imported to Armenia in 2019 Begin to Sell Gradually
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that there is a positive shift in the car trade sector in Armenia. Cars imported to Armenia in 2019 have started to be sold gradually. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in January-August of this year, the volume of car trade amounted to 64 billion 431 million 800 thousand drams. The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" learned that this represents a 0.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In August alone, the volume of car trade amounted to 11 billion 25 million 300 thousand drams. Meanwhile, it should be noted that traders involved in car sales in Armenia had faced serious challenges, as they had been unable to sell a large quantity of cars imported in 2019 for a considerable time.
Additionally, "Zhoghovurd" received information from the State Revenue Committee of Armenia that 2,900 cars were imported to Armenia in the first half of this year, compared to 17,800 in the same period last year. Besides the coronavirus, it has been reported that since the beginning of January last year, Kazakhs and Russians have not been buying cars from Armenia.
Moreover, the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia also indicated that retail trade turnover has increased by 1.8 percent in January-August of this year. Wholesale trade turnover has shown a 12.3 percent increase during the first eight months of this year.
