Employer May Deny Work, Withhold Salary, and Terminate: Proposed Changes
Proposed amendments to the Labor Code have been announced. According to the draft, if an employee fails to present a document confirming vaccination or a negative test result, the employer is given the right to deny the employee the opportunity to work, withhold salary for that period, and if the employee does not present themselves for 30 consecutive days, the employer is entitled to terminate the employment contract,” said Ruben Sargsyan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, during a press conference today.
“If this extends to 50 days within a period of 12 months, the employer once again has the right to terminate the employment contract,” the Deputy Minister emphasized, noting that the absence during this time will not accumulate as vacation and will not count towards seniority.
