Armenia Has Never Proposed Anything Regarding the Corridor: What the Security Council Secretary Told Iranian Media

The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, has categorically denied plans for the establishment of new corridors in the southern regions of the Caucasus following the recent war with Azerbaijan. He expressed this in an interview with the Iranian Tasnim agency, as reported by Tert.am.

Grigoryan stated that "the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh has paved the way for the presence of terrorists in the region."

"We have always warned others regarding these issues. However, Armenia's warnings did not help prevent the entry of terrorists and armed individuals into the region," the official said.

Grigoryan noted that "the issue of unblocking regional roads and economic routes is mentioned in the November agreement and was also discussed during the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan on January 11 in Russia."

"I want to emphasize that neither in the two statements nor in the meetings has there been any reference to a corridor," the Armenian official stated.

According to the Secretary of the Security Council, "Azerbaijan, on the contrary, has repeatedly declared that the establishment of a corridor is contested."

"I want to clarify that Armenia has never proposed anything regarding the corridor and will not propose, and it has never negotiated nor will negotiate on the corridor," Grigoryan emphasized, noting that he has reiterated Yerevan's position on this matter in meetings with his counterparts.

Grigoryan remarked that "before the elections in Armenia and during the pre-election campaign in Kapan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made it clear that there would be no talk of a corridor."

The official also indicated Armenia's readiness to open its routes for transportation between Azerbaijan and Turkey but emphasized that "the routes are entirely under the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia."
