Video: Ministry of Defense Officials Sold Military Base Territory, Police Reveal
The Police's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Department has prepared materials that reveal factual information regarding the sale of military base territory by officials of the Ministry of Defense (MoD). Using their official positions contrary to service interests, these officials sold over 6 hectares of land located on St. Nshan Street in Stepanavan, valued at approximately 180 million drams, for 58 million drams in March 2008. This land was classified as 'special purpose' and was included in the list of land that cannot be transferred to individuals and legal entities according to Article 60 of the RA Land Code.
Following the sale, the relevant officials from the State Real Estate Cadastre Committee issued a certificate of ownership for the land based on the sales agreement in April 2008 and changed the land's designated purpose from 'special purpose' to 'settlements', violating the procedure defined by the RA government resolution. Consequently, the state incurred significant damages amounting to approximately 122 million drams.
The police have reported that a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident and it has been forwarded to the investigative committee.
