Support Fund Says ‘Go Work in Energy, It’s a Disgrace’ - Sukiasyan
We have prohibited the import of clothing and other goods from Turkey. We know that Russia produces excellent fabrics, and products can be made in Armenia with those fabrics, said Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the ‘My Step’ faction, during a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration. However, he expressed dissatisfaction that there is no coordinating body.
“Who will carry out this technical assistance to negotiate with our structures, to solve the issue of selling Russian fabrics, and to substitute products made here for those arriving from third countries?” he noted.
The Deputy stated that there should be a separate institution assessing all possibilities regarding what Armenia can do. “Your support fund says to go work in energy, it’s a disgrace. Support of this kind is needed. Who will be the facilitator, who will be the creator of that platform? There are neither institutions providing these services, nor state support. These funds should seriously engage with such issues,” Sukiasyan told the Deputy Minister of Economy.
In response, Deputy Minister of Economy Varos Simonyan announced that this point will be targeted in the economic diplomacy strategy.
