Over 1500 Criminal Cases Concerning More Than 12,500 Individuals: Argishti Kyaramyan on Military Operations
During a ceremonial meeting held on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the formation of the investigative committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, the head of the committee, delivered a speech.
“Now, as we look back at the period from September 2020 to the present, we inadvertently confront the most difficult days of the war. Due to the logic of military events, the investigators of the Committee worked under incredible stress during those days and the subsequent period. This burden continues even today, which is a consequence of the large number of criminal cases initiated and the objective difficulties in organizing and conducting their preliminary investigation.
During the martial law declared throughout the Republic of Armenia on September 27, 2020, due to the war unleashed by Azerbaijan, the Military Investigative Main Department of the RA Investigative Committee has initiated and is investigating 1558 criminal cases concerning 12,593 individuals related to violations of the rules of military service and other crimes associated with military operations. A total of 724 individuals have been involved as defendants in these criminal cases, and extensive investigative and other procedural actions have been carried out, with more than 15,000 individuals being interrogated.”
