The 'Armenia' Faction Surprised That the RA President Has Not Addressed the Constitutional Court Regarding the Legislative Package

The 'Armenia' faction has challenged the legislative package regarding the consolidation of communities in the Constitutional Court. This information was reported by the press service of the faction.

Considering the urgency of the issue, a request has also been submitted to the Constitutional Court to immediately suspend the action of this legislative package. The application was registered with the Court yesterday.

The 'Armenia' faction is surprised that the President of the Republic of Armenia has not addressed the Constitutional Court regarding the legislative package. The coalition points out that the legislative package contradicts the requirements of a decision recently adopted by the Constitutional Court, violating the right of 441 communities to be heard, while the President has refrained from addressing the Constitutional Court, limiting himself to meetings with several representatives of the government.

Let us remind you that on September 24, the National Assembly adopted, in its second reading and in full, amendments and additions to the law on the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia and amendments and changes to the law on local self-government. Accordingly, Armenia will have 78 communities, of which 71 will be consolidated. It is noteworthy that the opposition factions of the National Assembly did not participate in the voting.
