Civil Aviation Committee Has Not Yet Passed Audit; Process Stalled

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia had not passed an audit by the European Aviation Safety Agency last year. It turns out that there has been no significant progress in this process thus far.

According to our conversation with Karen Gyurjyan, the head of the flight safety department of the Civil Aviation Committee, a meeting between the CAC and the European Aviation Safety Agency is scheduled for February next year. ''We had an interview with them, and afterwards they wrote on their website that there is progress. The next meeting is in February 2022,'' Gyurjyan explained.

He noted that the process is quite lengthy, as it begins with identifying the root causes of the deficiencies that have been recorded, followed by creating a plan on how to resolve these issues, building a timeline for implementation, and ultimately correcting the deficiencies. ''Then we coordinate with them,'' he added, clarifying that the deficiencies have been addressed.

It is worth noting that the audit covers everything from the wear of aircraft wheels to checking the preparedness level of pilots. EASA specialists conducted an audit at the committee in February last year, which revealed numerous deficiencies that exceeded 50 pages in total.
