Saakashvili Refuses to End Hunger Strike
The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has refused to end his hunger strike. Earlier, representatives from the Georgian Orthodox Church had intended to request him to do so. This was reported by the TASS agency.
The spokesperson for the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Mikael Botkovel, mentioned that he visited Saakashvili in prison. “I was not in his cell. We met in a neutral area. He asked me to convey to His Holiness (Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II) that the cross he wore on his chest is not with him and requested its return,” said Botkovel, adding that the former president has declined to halt his hunger strike.
