Former Head of Tsaghkadzor Causes Significant Damage to Community: Criminal Case Launched
Based on information received by the Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the Criminal Police, evidence has been gathered regarding the misconduct of the head of Tsaghkadzor community during the years 2018-2020.
On February 19, 2018, driven by personal interests and using his official powers against the interests of the service, he violated provisions of the land code by selling a half-hectare plot of land at a price of approximately 23 million 977 thousand drams through an auction with only one participant, while the market value of the specially protected land area designated for recreation was 90 million drams. As a result of this incident, the community suffered particularly large damage amounting to 66 million drams.
In a similar manner, on December 20, 2019, in the absence of a second participant, the community head created fake documents for an auction involving two participants and sold another specially protected land area designated for recreation, valued at 12 million drams, for only 3 million 483 thousand drams, causing the community to incur particularly large damages of over 8 million 500 thousand drams.
In 2020, the head of Tsaghkadzor intentionally took no actions to stop the illegal seizure of a community property plot of approximately 810 square meters by the owner of a casino located in Tsaghkadzor and the construction of a parking lot in that area, failing to apply measures of accountability as stipulated by the law. A criminal case has been initiated concerning the apparent crimes, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
