Discussion on Initiative to Create '3+3' Format Involving Russia, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia: Zakharova
Ensuring geopolitical stability and security in the South Caucasus region is a priority issue for Moscow. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a weekly press briefing, addressing the comments made by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian regarding Tehran's observations of changes in the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus.
In this context, Zakharova referred to the meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Iran that took place the day before, on October 6, highlighting that Russia is pursuing a comprehensive policy, including maintaining dialogue with all players in the region.
“Yesterday, the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed the initiative to create a '3+3' format (Russia, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia). Our Iranian colleagues are positive about this initiative,” Zakharova said.
