Armenian Ambassador in Russia is Doing Everything to Ensure Pashinyan's Moscow Visit Doesn't Fail
Ahead of Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Moscow, Armenia's Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanian is taking active steps to appropriately welcome the Prime Minister. From the Armenian community in Russia, we learned yesterday that Toghanian is personally calling and asking Armenian businessmen based in Moscow and influential figures of Armenian descent in Russia to agree to attend the meeting between Pashinyan and the Armenian community.
It has been discussed for some time that Nikol Pashinyan intends to replace Ambassador Toghanian, appointing former Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan in his stead. However, despite being appointed to this position by the previous administration on March 10, 2017, Toghanian has, during this difficult period in Armenia-Russia relations, performed his duties quite delicately, smoothing over some sharp corners and doing everything possible to prevent the relationships from deteriorating further.
Now, in fact, he is going to great lengths to ensure that Pashinyan's Moscow visit does not fail. It is worth noting that a meeting between Pashinyan and Putin is also planned in the near future, although there is currently no information about the specific date.
