What Restrictions Has Azerbaijan Imposed in Response to Iran?

Azerbaijan has closed the Husseiniye Mosque. This was announced by the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs, Eskhan Zahidov.

According to him, the reason is the coronavirus pandemic. In recent days, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in certain areas of Baku. It is noteworthy that the Husseiniye Mosque also houses the office of the Supreme Spiritual Leader of Iran in Azerbaijan.

Significantly, the closure of the mosque and the office of Iran's Supreme Religious Leader Seyed Ali Khamenei’s representative, Ojhaga Nejati, occurred on the very day that it was announced that Iran had banned Azerbaijan from using its airspace for transporting military cargo to Nakhchivan and for military aircraft flights.
