U.S. Secretary of State Calls Lavrov Ahead of Meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister: What They Discussed

On October 6, a phone conversation took place between Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry's press service.

“The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the prospects for the full restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action aimed at resolving disagreements over the Iranian nuclear program and discussed several topical issues on the bilateral agenda,” the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement said.

It was reported that the phone call was initiated by the American side, with the main topic being the nuclear deal with Iran.

Notably, Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian today in Moscow.
