The Mental State of Saakashvili Has Changed Significantly After Imprisonment, Says Garibashvili

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has stated that the mental state of the country's former president, Mikheil Saakashvili, has changed drastically since his imprisonment.

“The psychological and mental condition of Mikheil Saakashvili has undergone a significant transformation before and after his imprisonment. The ‘National Movement’ (the party created by Saakashvili) is concerned about its leader's severe condition and demands his immediate release from prison,” Garibashvili's statement reads, according to RIA Novosti.

Garibashvili expressed the view that “instead of a ruined state, Saakashvili discovered a well-organized state system in Georgia.” He added, “All of this explains the drastic change in Saakashvili's mental state.”

It is worth noting that Saakashvili was arrested on October 2, when he returned to the country to support the opposition during local elections. The former president has been sentenced in absentia in relation to assaults on a member of parliament and for organizing the murder of a banker. Additionally, he faces charges in several other cases, including embezzlement of state funds, abuse of power, and illegally crossing the border.
