Pashinyan on the '3+3' Negotiation Format

Pashinyan on the '3+3' Negotiation Format

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the '3+3' negotiation format proposed by Azerbaijan and Turkey during a question-and-answer session with government officials in the National Assembly today. He noted that Armenia has not yet expressed its position regarding the proposal.

“Armenia must first understand what these formats are, for what purpose they are being implemented, under what conditions they will operate, and what principles will be in place, among many other details, in order to clearly define its position,” Pashinyan stated.

Recall that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during a press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian that he had discussed the initiative to establish a '3 + 3' negotiation format involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey aimed at unblocking economic and transport ties in the region.

Lavrov indicated that the unblocking of transport communications would benefit not only Armenia and Azerbaijan but also Georgia. Iran, Russia, and Turkey, as the closest neighbors of these three republics, would also gain advantages, according to his observations.
