New Details Emerge in the Murder of the Director's Daughter of the "Gloria" Factory Near Victory Park in Yerevan

The main department of criminal police of the RA police, the criminal investigation department of Yerevan city police, and the criminal investigation department of the Arabkir police have identified the alleged suspect who shot at a Land Rover vehicle with an automatic firearm in front of Victory Park in Yerevan on September 28, resulting in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Diana Darbinyan, a resident of Lori province, and injuring her husband, 29-year-old Vazgen Margaryan.

According to Vardan Tadevosyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia, an investigative team was established by the head of the Arabkir investigative division, Karen Torosyan, and a criminal case was initiated under Article 104, Part 2, Items 1 and 6, and Article 235, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, under the guidance of senior investigator Harant Gasparyan.

On October 2, the investigative body applied to one of the courts of general jurisdiction in Yerevan to conduct a search at the residence of the alleged suspect, 24-year-old Levon Avetisyan, a resident of Yerevan. The court granted the investigative body’s request, and during the search at Levon Avetisyan's home, two grenades of „F 1” and „RGD” type with their detonators were discovered from the basement.

According to reports, Levon Avetisyan, who is being sought in connection with this murder, was also involved in a previous murder case committed with a firearm on April 15, 2019, in Kanaker-Zeytun, where 23-year-old goalkeeper Musheg Ghevondyan of Ararat-2 football club was killed. That murder was solved, and the participants in the incident were identified along with the perpetrator, including Levon Avetisyan, who is currently being sought in the case of the murder of the director's daughter of the “Gloria” sewing factory.

As previously reported by SHAMSHYAN.com, Diana Darbinyan, who was fatally shot on September 28 in front of Victory Park in Yerevan, was the daughter of Bagrat Darbinyan, the director of the well-known Gloria sewing factory in Vanadzor. Vazgen Margaryan, 29, who was injured in the shooting, is Diana Darbinyan's husband and works as a director at one of the well-known companies in the republic.

Police and investigators managed to identify the alleged suspect who fled the scene of the crime, a 24-year-old resident of Yerevan. It was also revealed that prior to the shooting, a dispute had occurred between this young man, known as Levon, and Vazgen Margaryan over domestic issues at a café located at the intersection of Sayat Nova and A. Manukyan streets, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

Upon the investigator’s direction, the Land Rover was moved to the protected area of the Arabkir police department.

As previously reported, the operations carried out by the main department of criminal police of the RA police and the investigative departments led to the identification of the suspect involved in the case where 26-year-old Ronert Manukyan, 26-year-old Andranik Galstyan suffered injuries, and 23-year-old Musheg Ghevondyan was fatally wounded on April 15 in the area adjacent to the garages on Lepsius Street in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district. The suspect was a 23-year-old resident of Kanaker-Zeytun, Yerevan, whose details were not disclosed for investigative purposes. It was noted that he had previously been convicted of a serious crime and was released under an amnesty.

Police and investigators have also found that the driver and owner of the BMW vehicle (license plate 14 CR 014) that was towed to the protected area of the Kanaker-Zeytun police department had no connection to the crime; the deceased football player had been sitting in the back seat when the suspect approached the vehicle and opened fire with an illegal firearm targeting the goalkeeper of the Ararat-2 football team.

Necessary operational-investigative and joint investigation activities were being undertaken to locate the 23-year-old suspect and the firearm used in the crime.
