Iran Closes Its Airspace to Azerbaijan, Armenia Opens It: Expert
Energy expert Vahe Davtyan writes on his Telegram channel:
“The corridor is no longer a reality. Azerbaijan is using Armenian airspace for flights between Baku and Nakhichevan. This has already been officially announced by Azerbaijani airlines. Interestingly, the phrasing indicates that it is not Armenia providing the airspace, but Azerbaijan is using it. Remarkably, all this is happening after Iran has closed its airspace to Azerbaijani military aviation to hinder military supplies to the army stationed in Nakhichevan.
Thus, the created situation once again shows that:
1. The ruling group in Armenia is eager to serve the interests of the Sultanate amid the Iran-Azerbaijan tensions. Opening airspace for Azerbaijan is nothing less than sabotage against Iran and against its own territorial integrity and sovereignty.
2. Air logistics is testing the 'Meghri Corridor.' The scenario of establishing a transport connection between Baku and Nakhichevan fully fits into the East-West strategy, which presents itself as multimodal logistics with ground, water, and air components.
It should be noted, however, that this case concerns passenger transport and not military equipment, and it should also be considered that the Azerbaijani airline will also operate flights over Iranian territory.”
