David Galstyan, Patron David, Has Health Issues

In the Center of Yerevan, under the chairmanship of Judge Gagik Poghosyan, a decision was made to grant the request of the National Security Service, according to which David Galstyan, the director of the arms supplying company known as Patron David, was detained for two months.

In an interview with Hraparak.am, defense lawyer Armen Andrikyan stated that they have appealed the detention decision, but it is still unknown to whom it has been assigned.

As for their arguments regarding changing the preventive measure, the lawyer said, "First and foremost, we have addressed the reasonable suspicion, which makes the accusation baseless; there is no reasonable suspicion. We have also analyzed the court's conclusions regarding the grounds for detention and find that, despite the absence of reasonable suspicion, there also are no grounds for detention in this case. In other words, based on the request of the pre-investigation body and the material presented, the court should not have concluded that there is reasonable suspicion present."

The lawyer also did not answer questions about whether his client had given testimony or if confrontations had taken place, indicating that these matters are within the purview of pre-investigative secrecy.

Armen Andrikyan added in conclusion that David Galstyan has certain health issues, but due to medical confidentiality, he cannot speak about them.

It is noteworthy that on September 29, the RA National Security Service arrested former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and David Galstyan (Patron David), in connection with a criminal case initiated regarding the abuse of official powers and the commission of official forgery by senior officials of the RA Ministry of Defense and the armed forces, concerning the supply of military goods for the needs of the army, as well as large-scale embezzlement.
