Change in PVDH Leadership: Prime Minister Disapproves

According to the 'Haykakan Žhoghovurd' newspaper, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a decision on October 1 to appoint Zhirayr Kharatyan as the deputy head of the State Oversight Service (PVDH). Sources from the newspaper indicate that there is unrest within the PVDH, as Prime Minister Pashinyan is dissatisfied with the performance of its leadership.

Reports suggest that Kharatyan may soon be appointed as the head of the service since Pashinyan does not want to see the current head, Tigran Ulukhanyan, in that position any longer. However, this has not been finalized, as Pashinyan wants to assess Kharatyan’s work in the deputy position first.

Government sources indicate that Pashinyan has been expressing dissatisfaction with Ulukhanyan’s performance for some time and is seeking a replacement. It is worth noting that Tigran Ulukhanyan was appointed as the head of the PVDH on January 21 of this year, transitioning from the legislative body to the executive branch.

Yesterday, we attempted to learn from Ulukhanyan what he knew about his potential dismissal and the appointment of Zhirayr Kharatyan as the head of the PVDH. He stated that this is the first time he has heard such information.

It is also noteworthy that Zhirayr Kharatyan, the newly appointed deputy head of the PVDH, is not well-known within the ruling team, and many were surprised by the Prime Minister’s decision.
