Serzh Sargsyan Responds to Aliyev: 'Why Didn’t You Say That Years Ago?'
The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has responded to the "hallucinated statements" made by Ilham Aliyev in Mataghis. "The Azerbaijani leader behaves like a cocky teenage boy who, after getting beaten, run to call his father for help and now stands behind him, boasting and swaggering. Why didn’t you invite me to Mataghis in the Martakert region of the Republic of Artsakh 3 or 10 years ago? Why were you such a tough guy back then when you were complaining that you were being pressured behind closed doors to recognize the independence of Artsakh?"
According to Sargsyan, it is not surprising that after everything that has happened in the last three years, Aliyev has taken on the role of the attorney for the capitulator, defending him and together, hand in hand, targeting Sargsyan and his combat comrades, the majority of whom are heroes of Artsakh. Sargsyan continued, "You call me a ‘deserter’? Who are you to talk about desertion? Everyone knows where I was in the First Artsakh War and where you were when your compatriots were dying fighting alongside the brave men of Armenia to defend their ancient homeland and liberate Artsakh. You were of an age when you could and should have been on the battlefield. Where were you? I know, and let others know too. You have a good partner in Armenia now; invite him while you can, and when he is no longer your partner, that is when I will come to Mataghis and any other territory of the Republic of Artsakh," Sargsyan stated in his response.
