Serious Confrontation Between Arshak Karapetyan and Armen Abazyan
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that four individuals have already been detained in connection with the scandalous arms trafficking case. Among those detained are former Defense Minister David Tonoyan, arms supplier David Galstyan, former head of aviation Avetik Muradyan, and deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Stepan Galstyan.
According to our information, a serious confrontation has erupted between Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan and NSS Director Armen Abazyan due to this case. Karapetyan has opposed raising such a significant global uproar and the detention of current and former high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense.
In this case, names of NSS employees involved in smuggling and intelligence operations are also being considered. The issue has come down to an either-or situation: either the NSS personnel should be punished for such oversights, in which they may have been complicit, or the officials from the Ministry of Defense. Abazyan appears to have gained the upper hand in this matter.
