Civil Aviation Committee Confirms Flight Through Armenia to Baku-Nakhchivan: Details
The Civil Aviation Committee confirms that on October 6 of this year, a flight was carried out through the airspace of the Republic of Armenia on the Baku-Nakhchivan route.
Both the airspaces of the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan have not been restricted for civilian aircraft, except during the 44-day period of the war. Flights on this route have been continuously operated even before November 8, 2014, after which the Azerbaijani side unilaterally ceased to use the airspace of the Republic of Armenia.
Throughout this time, flights from Zvartnots Airport into the Azerbaijani airspace have continued to various countries and vice versa.
It should also be noted that the aviation authorities of the Republic of Armenia do not grant transit flight permissions, as per the procedures, there is no requirement for any permission for the implementation of transit flights with civilian aircraft. The authority to select air routes rests with the operators of the aircraft.
