Ruling Party Members Disrupt Opposition's Initiative to Hold Commission Meeting on Syunik Issues: 'Hayastan' Alliance
Yesterday, an extraordinary meeting initiated by members of the 'Hayastan' and 'Honorary' factions of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee, aimed at receiving information and explanations regarding the situation on the interstate Goris-Kapan road segment in Syunik province, did not take place. This was due to the absence of ruling party lawmakers, as reported by the 'Hayastan' alliance.
“Furthermore, according to the relevant article of the constitutional law 'Rules of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia,' the initiating lawmakers received a written notice from the committee chairman thirty minutes after the meeting's start, artificially and unjustifiably hindering the convening of the committee meeting. This further confirms that the political majority is avoiding accountability for the situation created in the country. Similarly, the leadership of the National Assembly avoided discussing the same issue in any format during the National Assembly session, preventing the opposition's initiative from being realized,” the released statement said.
