Parliament Approves Draft Amendments to the Law on Remuneration of Public Officials
The Parliament approved on first reading the draft law on amendments and additions to the law on the remuneration of public officials and those holding positions in state service. The votes were distributed as follows: 53 in favor, 0 against, 27 abstained.
Babken Tunyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction, elaborated on the purpose of the draft law. “The draft proposes to allow several tens of thousands of our compatriots working in the state system to allocate their social package funds without putting an additional burden on the state budget and without expanding the circle of beneficiaries. They will be able to use these funds for paying tuition fees and for accessing gym services,” said Tunyan.
Notably, the President of Armenia, the Speaker of the National Assembly, members of Parliament, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and Deputy Ministers will not benefit from the changes to the law.
