Iran Bans Azerbaijani Military Aircraft from Its Airspace
In the northwest of Iran, amid Iranian and Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises in Nakhchivan, Iran and Azerbaijan have imposed new restrictions. The office of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's representative, Ojagh Nezhati, has been closed in Azerbaijan. This is reported by the Azerbaijani news site Minval.az.
The closure has been justified by alleged violations of health regulations, with reports indicating that checks involving police officers were conducted at the mosque located in the Huseyniya neighborhood where the office is situated. Ehsan Zahidov, a representative of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that in recent days, there has been a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus infections in certain areas of the city, including the mentioned mosque, which is why it has been closed.
At the same time, it has been reported today that official Tehran has informed the Azerbaijani side through military communication channels that it has banned flights to Nakhchivan. Specifically, flights are prohibited through its airspace for military supply purposes.
