Hackers Put Personal Data of Over 1.5 Billion Facebook Users for Sale
A user from one of the hacker forums has put up for sale personal data of over 1.5 billion Facebook users. This was reported by the Privacy Affairs portal.
According to the source, the representative of the seller claims that the data was obtained through automated collection of information that users themselves have provided online. Examples presented in the forum include names, email addresses, locations, gender, and phone numbers.
Privacy Affairs notes that if the information is confirmed, it would be the largest data breach of user information in history. The seller has offered the database for purchase either in its entirety or in parts. One forum user mentions that they were asked for $5,000 for the data of one million users.
The source also states that this incident is not related to the outages that occurred on October 4th within the social network.
