Ruling Party Members Disrupt Opposition's Initiative to Hold a Meeting on Syunik Issues
Today, the extraordinary meeting initiated by the members of the National Assembly’s Defense and Security Committee from the "Armenia" and "Honorable Service" factions aimed at obtaining information and explanations regarding the situation created in the Syunik region, particularly along the interstate Goris-Kapan road segment, did not take place. The meeting was intended to include the heads of the National Security Service, the Minister of Defense, the Prosecutor General, the Human Rights Defender, and the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee. However, ruling party members disrupted the meeting by not attending.
This was reported by the "Armenia" bloc. Furthermore, according to the relevant article of the constitutional law on the rules of procedure of the National Assembly, the authors of the initiative received a letter from the committee chairman half an hour after the start of the meeting, indicating that there were artificial and unjustified obstacles to the holding of the meeting.
Once again, this highlights that the political majority is avoiding responsibility and accountability for the situation in the country. Likewise, the leadership of the National Assembly avoided allowing the opposition's initiative to discuss the same issue in any format during the National Assembly session.
