Powers of Judge Gagik Khandanyan Suspended

The Supreme Judicial Council today made a decision to suspend the powers of Gagik Khandanyan, a judge at the Court of Appeal.

It is worth recalling that the Anti-Corruption Committee had presented a conclusion stating that Gagik Khandanyan violated part 1 of article 31 of the Law on Public Service and part 1 of article 5 of the Constitutional Law on the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia. In other words, the judge engaged in entrepreneurial activities incompatible with his position. Specifically, as presented in court, on May 4, 2020, Aram Babayan and Mkhitar Sarkisyan entered into a sale and purchase agreement regarding their shares in “Mush” LLC, where the buyer was Judge Gagik Khandanyan.
