Possible Meeting Between Pashinyan and Aliyev: Ghazaryan on Expected Developments

Former head of the Constitutional Court staff Edgar Ghazaryan writes on his Facebook page: “Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his readiness to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which would be, for the latter, an act of final capitulation by Armenia to Azerbaijan.

Nikol Pashinyan has not only confirmed his willingness to meet but has also accepted Aliyev's proposal for a second act of capitulation. He has announced that he is ready to make significant concessions, namely, to provide all maps of minefields, on the condition that Aliyev returns all Armenian prisoners of war.

It is even stipulated in the text of the November 9 capitulation statement that Aliyev was obliged to return all prisoners to the Armenian side, while there is no written stipulation requiring Armenia to hand over maps of minefields. This additional demand is placed before the capitulatory government of Armenia by Aliyev, who is exploiting their willingness to fulfill all of Azerbaijan's demands, thus showcasing their incompetence, but in this case, also their betrayal.

Minefield maps are considered state top-secret military documents, and under Article 299 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, this is classified as state treason (“State treason includes collaboration with the enemy, espionage, transferring state secrets to a foreign state or foreign organization or their representatives, or providing any assistance to conduct hostile activities, committed by a citizen of the Republic of Armenia to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or external security of the Republic of Armenia”).

Perhaps the best occasion for the meeting could be the inauguration ceremony of the Fizuli Airport, which is one of the largest investment projects implemented in Artsakh during Nikol Pashinyan's tenure. It is also possible that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will participate in this ceremony. This will mark Pashinyan's first symbolic visit to Artsakh after the war. Continuing his 2018 custom, he may hold a selfie stick throughout the event and broadcast live on Facebook, showcasing to the world how both of his leaders are humiliating and degrading him, which is what every traitor deserves.”
