Kocharian on the Establishment of a Union State with Russia
The current situation raises questions about whether we truly have sufficient state-building resources in Armenia at this pace. I am not ready to answer that question now.
These remarks were made by Robert Kocharian, the second President of Armenia and leader of the ‘Armenia’ alliance, during a press conference, when asked whether the option of creating a union state with Russia is open for discussion.
“We need to understand how our independence is currently at risk and what prospects exist. An analysis is required. I am not prepared to give a definite answer to that question now,” said Robert Kocharian.
He noted that from a security perspective, perhaps we need a larger unification. According to Robert Kocharian, the CSTO has not protected us; rather, Azerbaijan has better relations with all CSTO member states than with Armenia.
