Government Plans to Implement Capital Projects Worth 350 Billion AMD Next Year, Prime Minister
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived on an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania. During the visit, the Prime Minister met with representatives of the local Armenian community, who are involved in health, culture, and business sectors.
The Prime Minister stated that for the next year, the government plans to implement unprecedented capital projects worth 350 billion AMD, which will in turn lead to new job opportunities. The construction of the North-South highway will continue at a large scale, and in the coming five years, several hundred schools and kindergartens will be constructed or renovated throughout the country. Efforts to develop tourism will also continue.
“Our goal is to create the necessary conditions for people to improve their well-being through their creative abilities,” said the Prime Minister.
Nikol Pashinyan reminded that for the first time in two decades, the Republic of Armenia owns shares in the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine, the largest mining company in the industry. “We hope that the state’s share will increase over time. This is not just a matter of buying and selling shares, but rather a significant investment program which will be implemented with the support of the government by a private company. Today, when we examine the structure of Armenia's exports, we see that a huge part consists of concentrate, which is mainly exported to the European Union, where it is smelted into copper. We want to create a copper smelter in Armenia, which means the creation of thousands of jobs,” the Prime Minister added, noting that as a result, copper will be produced in the Republic of Armenia. “Within the framework of this investment program, according to various estimates, up to 5,000 jobs will be created in the coming years. This issue is at the forefront of our daily attention,” emphasized Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the Prime Minister, the government is seeking and finding partners who will create new jobs.
