Agvan Hovsepyan to Remain in Custody
The former Attorney General of Armenia and former head of the Investigative Committee, Agvan Hovsepyan, will remain in custody. The Court of Appeal rejected the motion of Hovsepyan's defenders to release him from custody. This information was disclosed by Hovsepyan's lawyer, Erik Aleksanyan, during a conversation with reporters.
It is important to note that Judge Sevak Hambartsumyan made this decision. 'We are not familiar with the reasoning of the Court of Appeal's decision and will provide an assessment only after reviewing it. Nevertheless, we will naturally file a cassation appeal regarding Hovsepyan's release on bail,' said Aleksanyan. According to him, Hovsepyan does not accept the charges brought against him.
Recall that the Special Investigative Service reported on September 7 that Agvan Hovsepyan is accused of receiving a bribe of 190 million drams and committing fraud resulting in the theft of 800 million drams worth of property.
