Pashinyan Accepts Invitation to Visit Czech Republic: Meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Held
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has accepted a delegation led by the Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek, who is visiting Armenia for a working visit. This was reported by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister emphasized the continual development of relations with the Czech Republic and noted that there is significant untapped potential for expanding cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope that the visit of Mr. Kulhánek would lead to the realization of some of this unused potential.
The head of the government thanked the Czech executive for the assistance provided in the framework of democratic reforms taking place in Armenia within the European Union.
Jakub Kulhánek noted that the Czech Republic also places particular importance on expanding multilateral relations with Armenia, including in the trade and economic sectors. The Czech Foreign Minister mentioned that Czech businessmen have also come to Armenia as part of his delegation, which will contribute to deepening bilateral business ties and the discussion and implementation of joint investment projects.
Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the significance of the €2.6 billion investment package allocated to Armenia by the European Union and expressed confidence that the governments of Armenia and the Czech Republic could cooperate closely within the framework of the proposed projects.
The interlocutors also discussed current developments in the South Caucasus region. The Prime Minister referred to the trilateral statements made by the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan following the 44-day war and the implementation of their points, noting that the Azerbaijani side has not yet returned Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and other detained individuals, despite its obligations.
Pashinyan also emphasized the necessity of the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenian sovereign territory and reminded that the Armenian side has made a corresponding proposal for a peaceful resolution to this issue.
The Prime Minister added that the Armenian side values the peaceful process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and welcomed the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the Minsk Group in New York.
Pashinyan stressed the need for a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the clarification of the status of Artsakh, implementing the principle of self-determination of peoples.
Jakub Kulhánek reaffirmed the Czech Republic's support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group and highlighted the necessity of solely peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
At the end of the meeting, the Czech Foreign Minister conveyed an invitation from Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš for Pashinyan to visit the Czech Republic. Nikol Pashinyan gladly accepted the invitation and sent his warm greetings to Andrej Babiš.
