Capitulators Have Been Feeding the People Peacefully Since November 10, Says Serzh Sargsyan
The issue of Artsakh is not resolved as long as the status of Artsakh is not clarified and as long as the Artsakh Armenians are under serious threat every day and every hour, stated former Armenian president and Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan at a meeting titled "Post-War Armenia: What Steps Should Be Taken?".
He expressed hope that the Armenian people have not forgotten their dignity and rights, nor the bitter lessons of their millennia-old history, and that they will draw conclusions while it is not too late: "The authorities bearing the mark of defeat and betrayal are trying to present us as warmongers, inciting fears of a new war among the public. I want to declare once again that we are not a party to war, we do not want war, as we have gone through all the wars in Artsakh, as we were ready ourselves, and now we are ready for any sacrifice, and not to lead people to the brink of death as a result of foolish decisions and inflamed arrogance. The capitulators have been feeding the people peacefully since November 10, while from that day until today we continue to suffer losses—human, territorial, moral, and security-related."
Sargsyan stated that they are against a new war, as, according to him, with a defeated army, squandered arms, and decayed state institutions, what kind of war could they wage? "We are not insane," he said.
The Republican Party president noted that when they continue to insist that Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan, they emphasize that first they must restore the country’s security and diplomatic potential, reactivate state structures, and restore the people's faith and dignity. "Thus, our task is to make maximum efforts and contribute to the restoration of justice within the country and around the country and to raise the reputation of the Republic of Armenia," Sargsyan declared.
