Artak Davtyan to Be Summoned for Questioning in David Tonoyan Case

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that according to its information, the National Security Service (NSS) will summon Artak Davtyan, the Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, for questioning in the criminal case against former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and his close associate David Galstyan. It is also possible that charges will be brought against him as part of the criminal case initiated by the NSS.

According to conversations circulating in judicial and law enforcement systems, the Court of Cassation will not detain Patron Davoy, as he has had advocates among the authorities. Furthermore, if he is detained again, several officials currently employed at the Ministry of Defense, including Chief of Staff Artak Davtyan and former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan, will be pursued.

It is noteworthy that David Galstyan was in custody from February 2 and was released on May 17. He has been charged with supplying artillery shells of a different caliber produced in Czechoslovakia in 1977 instead of the appropriate caliber shells produced between 1983 and 1986 for the Ministry of Defense, which significantly underperformed in tactical characteristics. This product was supplied under the signature of Chief of Staff Artak Davtyan.

David Tonoyan's lawyer, Sergey Hovhannisyan, stated that Tonoyan does not accept the charges brought against him and, furthermore, is not providing testimony. Additionally, according to our information, David Galstyan is also likely to be detained.
