Work Continues on the Return of Armenian Prisoners of War in Exchange for Minefield Maps, Says Russian Foreign Ministry

The Russian side continues to work with Yerevan and Baku on the return of Armenian prisoners of war in exchange for the provision of minefield maps, and hopes this will aid in the normalization of relations between the two countries.

This was announced by Alexey Zaytsev, Deputy Head of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a briefing, as reported by TASS agency.

“We continue our work on the return of Armenian prisoners of war in exchange for minefield maps. We are confident that the swift and definitive resolution of these incendiary issues will promote the improvement of relations between Yerevan and Baku,” he said.

Zaytsev emphasized that Moscow is guided in its work by the trilateral statements made by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, which serve as reliable guarantees against similar tragic events in the future.

“In efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region, Russia emphasizes the implementation of tasks arising from these trilateral agreements,” added the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.
