One Arrested for Assaulting Tax Committee Employees, Another Sought

The investigation into the case of violence against employees of the Armenian State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling continues at the Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

As a result of various investigative and procedural actions, several circumstances of the incident have been clarified. Notably, on September 25, 2021, around 16:00, a resident of Akhuryan city obstructed the inspection of his vehicle by employees of the Syunik territorial division of the State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling in the customs inspection zone of the ‘Megozi Customs Post’. He argued with them and, along with his brother, physically assaulted the employees, causing them bodily harm.

Based on sufficient evidence, one of the brothers has been charged under the first part of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code, and he has been taken into custody as a preventive measure. The other brother has also been implicated as a suspect under the first part of Article 316, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The investigation continues, with measures being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case and ensure an objective and comprehensive review. Efforts are underway to locate the wanted individual, and the investigative body has been instructed on the matter.
