Decision Made to Arrest 24-Year-Old for Attempted Murder on Abovyan Street: New Details

The pre-investigation into the case of attempted murder against two young men on Abovyan Street continues at the Investigation Department of the Center and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan.

This was reported by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, which stated: "Following urgent investigative and other procedural actions, several significant circumstances of the case have been clarified, including the identity of the person committing the crime, who is a resident of Yerevan born in 1997."

As a result of the measures taken, it was revealed that on September 24, 2021, at 12:23 AM, a 24-year-old resident of Yerevan, along with a friend, visited a café located on Abovyan Street. During the celebration, around 2:00 AM, the 24-year-old got into an argument with two young men present in the same café, which continued in the adjacent area.

During the dispute, the 24-year-old fired several shots from an illegally acquired pistol at the two young men, with direct intent to unlawfully deprive them of life, posing a danger to many lives, causing gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to a medical center, where one of them died.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, a decision was made to charge the 24-year-old under Article 104, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 6, and Article 235, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and on the same day, a decision was made for his arrest, which was entrusted to the investigative authority. The young man is currently wanted.
